Neil McAllister, Branch Head, Oak Bay Library
President Neil presents guest speaker, Neil McAllister, with several copies of A World of Stories for the Oak Bay Library.

Guest Speaker
Rod Sim introduced the speaker today, Neil McAllister, Branch Head at the Oak Bay Library. Neil spoke about the many changes that have occurred within the library system in the last few years, especially since the age of computers. He indicated that the library is the gatekeeper of information rather than the seeker, as the internet provides so much information. He mentioned that there are 98,000 distinct items at the library with 60,000 items going out and coming in every month. The library is free and available to anyone from birth on! Neil mentioned that some of the programs they undertake involve passing on donated books to Literacy agencies for distribution. He also mentioned the Open House at the Oak Bay library on April 25 from 10AM to 2PM, and he hopes to see as many people as possible in attendance. Some lucky members received library items. Neil was thanked by Wolf Schopper. He was presented with several copies of the book World of Stories and a Rotary Four Way Test mug.
