Ron introduced Lori McLeod as our speaker. She enlightened us on the workings of Memory Cafés and their origins in Europe. A Memory Café is a place in residences for the elderly, where visitors can come to talk to residents who would benefit from contact and stimulation from people outside the residence. With the Club's support, Lori, Joe Prentice and Peter Lawrie hope to shape, design and launch a similar program here in February. Anyone wanting to volunteer please contact Joe. The Interact students at Oak Bay High School have expressed an interest in participating.

Giles Thanked Lori for giving us such a clear insightful presentation.

Peter updated us on Interact. They have had a slow start this year but are up and running with 3 students co-chairing. The group's focuses will be the Malawi Girls' School, Shelter Boxes and a Memory Café.

Sergeant-at-Arms

Leslie was back as sergeant at arms! She thanked her stand ins and promptly fined everyone who didn’t greet the Phantom Shaker (herself). She also fined anyone who had gloated about our great weather.

Barbara and Neil battled it out in a bidding war for Symphony tickets donated by Jane Currie.

Perry is celebrating his Birthday.
