ANNOUNCEMENTS

Jim Force reports that the Times Colonist Raise-a-Reader Book Drive is going well. We have  collected 893 books to date. Our club goal is to collect at least 1,200 books. We will continue to collect books until April 28th.

All  books in good condition are acceptable except for encyclopedias and condensed books such as Readers' Digest books. No magazines. Books can  be brought to the club meeting on Tuesday or dropped off at Jim's @  2751 Burdick Avenue or call Jim (250.592.8324) and arrange for him to pick them up. Thanks to all who have contributed to this worthwhile  literacy project.

At the request of President John, this week’s Oak Bay Rotary meeting broke into small groups to discuss long term vision for our club, club leadership, and engagement of the membership in achieving the club vision.

Judging by the hum of discussion and activity, there was no lack of engagement in the process that president John asked us to enter into. The meetings of the small groups appeared to be lively and intense, focusing on leadership: how do we identify emerging leaders, what talents should they have or be encouraged to develop, who should lead the selection process and how do we recruit new members who will become future leaders?

President John received feedback from each of the small groups and will summarize the groups’ input in a separate bulletin to members as soon as possible.
